Welcome to the website of Groninger Student Music Association Bragi!
G.S.M.G. Bragi is the largest and oldest student music association in Groningen. The association was founded in 1882 and has approximately 100 members, who are divided into three sections: the symphony choir, the orchestra and the a cappella choir. Each section rehearses weekly and works on three programs each academic year, each season being concluded with several concerts. Our year is filled with rehearsal weekends, drinks, parties and many other fun (musical) activities!

On 1 June 2024, the 65th Music and Singing Festival took place on Schiermonnikoog, where three choirs from Groningen ended up in the top three: the A cappella choir of G.S.M.G. Bragi, Popkoor Estrellas and Koor Bladgoud. Thus the idea of organising a concert together was born. Despite our differences, we have the same goal: making beautiful music together! After all, there is nothing better than that. The three choirs will take turns to perform part of their repertoire. It will be a fun concert with different styles, so there is something for everyone! Please feel welcome on Thursday 10 October 2024 in the Doopsgezinde Kerk in Groningen.

What is Bragi?
The association was founded in 1882 (therefore we are over 135 years old!) and has around 100 members, divided over 3 ensembles: the symphony choir, orchestra and a-capella choir. With this, we are the oldest and biggest student music association in Groningen. Every ensemble has weekly rehearsals, usually seperately, though the orchestra and symphony choir join up towards the end of the season to rehearse their piece(s) together.

It is possible to hire an ensemble from Bragi!
This can be a string quartet, but also a chamber choir or other chamber ensembles.
